One Life to Live


Long-running daytime serial One Life to Live is set in the fictional community of Llanview, which is modeled on the Philadelphia Main Line. Victoria Lord Davidson, a character that has stood the test of time since the show's beginning, is still an integral and necessary part of the colorful and diverse canvas today.
One Life to Live is one of the most critically-acclaimed daytime serials on television today, applauded for its exploration of social issues, diverse canvas, talented performers, and groundbreaking, innovative storylines that test the characters and the way that we, the audience, feel and react to those situations. One Life to Live is responsible for many precedents in daytime television, one of the most notable being the week of live shows that was done in May 2002. One Life to Live's groundbreaking and emotional stories include gang violence, interracial romance, lupus, medical misdiagnosis, overcoming illiteracy, racial prejudice, and split personalities. The show gained mass acclaim when it introduced a storyline involving a gay teen, and the storyline finished with the highly emotional display of the Names Project AIDS Memorial Quilt. In 1994, One Life to Live won four Daytime Emmy awards for a deeply emotional and riveting fraternity gang rape storyline. The show won four more Daytime Emmy awards in 2000, and also recieved the first CDC Sentinel for Health Award due to the storyline of Viki's (Erika Slezak) breast cancer. The show recieved two Daytime Emmy awards in 2001, and won Outstanding Drama Series in 2002.
